Effie Kazantzis is a counselor for students in grades 6–8. What she loves most about working at Lighthouse Connections Academy is connecting with students to support their social and emotional development.
Why She Became an Educator
Ms. Kazantzis was inspired to become a counselor by her passion for helping others and her love for children. Knowing that children face many challenges inside and outside the classroom, she believed that becoming a counselor would allow her to advocate for families and support student success.
Ms. Kazantzis believes that student feelings and well-being are just as important as academics — and she wants to foster and care for those needs.
The Online School Experience at Lighthouse Connections Academy
As a counselor at our school, Ms. Kazantzis reports that she has met exceptional students and their families and has created many meaningful relationships with them. Her favorite activities take place during middle school counselor office hours, when students get to socialize with fellow classmates, receive important information, get answers to their questions, and express what’s on their mind.
Ms. Kazantzis’s Personal Interests
During her free time, Ms. Kazantzis loves to travel. She spends every summer in Greece with her husband and two daughters. They swim at various beaches, visit famous ancient ruins, and enjoy Greek food. Ms. Kazantzis is also an avid reader. She enjoys fictional novels and tries to read one each month during the school year.
