In 2016, after working in a factory for about six years, I started substitute teaching. I spent a lot of time in special education classrooms and fell in love with it. That’s when I decided to go back to school and get my master’s degree in special education. After graduation, I started looking for teaching positions in special education — and discovered Lighthouse Connections Academy.
One of the things I love most about teaching here is being able to build connections with students, families, and coworkers. Because of our online platform, I’m able to communicate more with them than if I were confined to one classroom all day. I feel that in our virtual environment, I can speak more directly with parents and individual students.
