Why I Became a Teacher

I became a teacher because I was passionate about learning, and I had some inspiring teachers. I also wanted to inspire students to develop a passion for learning.

The Online School Experience at Lighthouse Connections Academy

The most rewarding part of teaching at this school is being able to have better relationships with my students. Because we’re an online school, I can focus more on them individually, as opposed to teaching in a brick-and-mortar setting.

One way I foster student engagement is through discussions during LiveLesson® sessions with the class. This helps students get involved and engaged with other students and with the material.

My favorite activity with my students is when we talk about labor unions. I assign some of them to be management and others to be workers. I put them in breakout rooms and meet with each group individually to explain their goals. Then I have them get together and negotiate a contract.

Message for Prospective Families Choosing Online School

This school encourages students to become more independent in their learning and to advocate for themselves and their education. They’re able to problem solve and manage their day with a schedule that works for them and enables them to be more flexible and productive.

“Parents thinking of enrolling their child here shouldn’t hesitate to reach out and ask questions. We’re very welcoming and are happy to help you and your child get started at our school.”
