Why I Became an Educator

My mother was a teacher, and it was amazing witnessing the positive impact she had on her students’ lives. I found myself drawn to roles in which I was working with children and young adults (babysitter, tutor, camp counselor, etc.), and she encouraged and inspired me to pursue a career in education. I’m glad I did—it has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience to be part of so many lives during this pivotal point in their journey.

The Online School Experience at Kansas Connections Academy

Kansas Connections Academy consistently goes above and beyond to onboard students, and works diligently to ensure that each family’s experience is seamless and positive. This process starts with a welcome call and new student orientation, and is followed up by continued coaching and encouragement from the whole team throughout the year. Classroom teachers, advisors, counselors, administrators— we all work together to review student progress, provide support, and partner with our students and their Learning Coaches to determine the best plan of action. It’s a special experience and a privilege to be part of this community.

Our school is collaborative in every aspect of student success—and I love celebrating successes, big and small! Whether a student made significant gains on a benchmark assessment or had stellar participation in class, it’s a joy to call home or send a special message to recognize their efforts.

Kansas Connections Academy prepares students for a bright future academically by providing a rigorous curriculum as well as through the development of important life skills. Our students learn how to effectively manage their time and stay organized, which is critical to success for both college and career pathways. Students are also encouraged to invest their time and energy in clubs, field trips, and activities that build upon their personal interests, giving them valuable experience in the fields they’re looking at for their future.

Kansas Connections Academy consistently goes above and beyond to onboard students, and works diligently to ensure that each family’s experience is seamless and positive.

The Benefits of K-12 Online Learning

Online school is different from a brick-and-mortar setting because it enables teachers to customize their supports to the needs of their students. There’s no bell schedule confining their time and attention, which means they have the flexibility and freedom to work directly with a student at their exact level. That’s an empowering revelation for both the student and the teacher!
