Christa Moore

High School Counselor

Bachelor's Degree, Elementary Education, Mid America Nazarene University; Master’s Degree, School Counseling, Emporia State University

From the time she was “a little kid,” Christa Moore thought she would be a teacher. “As I got older, I worked with kids more and more,” she recalls, “and that just solidified my choice.” Her college major? Elementary education.

And then she pivoted. “I became more interested in psychology and mental health,” Ms. Moore explains. She “decided to pursue a master’s degree in school counseling” and has worked as a professional counselor ever since. She joined Kansas Connections Academy in 2022.

Providing Support, and Receiving It

As a counselor, Ms. Moore often works with students and families facing challenges or new situations, or who just need someone to talk to. The exceptional support she provides is made possible, in part, by the exceptional support she herself receives from the staff and families within the school.

“I really love how open and welcoming the Kansas Connections Academy community is,” she says. “They all make this job enjoyable and rewarding.”

As much as any professional at the school, Ms. Moore’s responsibilities touch each part of the Connections Academy community: students, families, Learning Coaches, teachers, and administrators. “I really enjoy the interactions I get to have with everyone,” she says.

We have some of the best students and staff you could ever find, and they all make this job enjoyable and rewarding.

Some Personal Interests

Outside of school, Ms. Moore enjoys “spending time with family.” It’s a good thing, too, because “all our extended family lives close to us.” As a (very large) group, they all see each other regularly, “playing games, going to movies, going to sporting events, and just hanging out with one another.”

When she does manage to find some alone-time, Ms. Moore loves reading “and getting lost in a story.” In addition, musical theater “has always been a passion” for her. She also enjoys cooking and baking—and all of those family members are happy that she does!
