I enjoy the students and the staff. The people at Kansas Connections Academy are unique individuals who enjoy finding new and better ways of doing things, more so than any other school I've been involved with. This culture of trying new things inspires me to learn and improve every day.
The space to try new ways of teaching and learning is very empowering. I think the students feel it too, and they know that they can try different school schedules if they want to. They can have a math day, a science day, or they can find the hours each day that works best for them. They can experiment with these options and learn about themselves, which is one major point of education. Teachers have flexibility too, in terms of the tools and the techniques we use, and we collaborate relentlessly to continually improve our practice.
