Combining Her Passions

For Ms. Register, the choice to become an educator was an easy one. “I love to learn!” she explains enthusiastically. “By teaching, I can share my passion for continually increasing my knowledge of the world around us.”

In addition to teaching, Ms. Register serves as a business consultant and coach to business professionals throughout the community. She appreciates that her position at Iowa Connections Academy presents her with a unique opportunity. “I'm thrilled to combine my passion for business and education,” she says.

Connecting Learning to Real Life

Ms. Register is a strong believer in the value of virtual education. In fact, she chose to earn her college degree from one of the country’s leading online institutions. “We learn best when we learn in a way that works for us,” she says. “I love the flexibility and choice that comes with online education.”

The flexible curriculum at Iowa Connections Academy is apparent in Ms. Register’s classes. “I can adapt an assignment to make sense for a student's career path and interests,” she says. The result is that her students remain focused and engaged at a level that they often would not be with a traditional curriculum in a brick-and-mortar classroom. “I want students to connect what we are learning to their real life,” she says, “and their future possibilities for careers.”

I want students to connect what we are learning to their real life and their future possibilities for careers.

Message for Families Interested in Online School

As an educator, as a parent, and even as a student herself, Ms. Register understands that Iowa Connections Academy offers possibilities that earlier generations of students simply did not have. “We are so privileged to have a choice in education,” she says. Her advice to parents: “Find what works for your student and go after with your full effort!”
