Robin Bonefas is a high school teacher at Iowa Connections Academy (IACA). She started teaching in 2012 and has been with the school since 2014. Ms. Bonefas has an English degree from Buena Vista University. She shares her story below:
“I became a teacher to share my passion for reading with others and to inspire others, as one of my teachers did for me. I love teaching at Iowa Connections Academy because of the connections I get to make with students. One of the benefits of teaching at an online school versus a brick-and-mortar school is that I get to know my students better.
“Iowa Connections Academy prepares students for the real world by making students focus on time management and self-advocacy. Both are skills that will be needed beyond school. Everyone is so polite and kind, even if they have never met each other face to face. Our program has enough flexibility for students to follow their dreams of being a hockey player, actor, singer, or any other passion they may have while still getting a quality education.”
At Iowa Connections Academy, students are able to pursue their passions inside and outside of the classroom.
