Lisa Perry is the manager of special education at INSPIRE, the Idaho Connections Academy. She holds a master’s degree in special education from Boise State University and joined INSPIRE in 2014. Learn more about Ms. Perry’s story below.
Ms. Perry was inspired to become an educator because of her own personal struggles with learning when she was in elementary school. She says, “A teacher that I will forever be thankful for and grateful to noticed that my bad attitude hid the fact that I could not read. Countless hours with that teacher, and my parents and sisters practicing reading with me made all the difference. Today, I am a strong reader that chooses a book over TV. Being a reader opened many doors to me in my life, including becoming a teacher.
Now, I love teaching at INSPIRE because it is exciting to help students learn and grow. One benefit of online learning is that it offers services and course choices to students who live in rural areas that would otherwise not get those opportunities. INSPIRE is a very rigorous and technology-rich environment that uses research-based strategies and curriculum to teach students."
In her free time, Ms. Perry loves gardening, traveling, and spending time with her three children.
