Patrick Sullivan joined Great Lakes Learning Academy in 2021. His favorite part of the job is working with students to help them achieve their goals, whether those goals are academic, college and career, or social and emotional.

Why He Became an Educator

“I was really passionate about my subject area, U.S. History, and wanted to impact student learning in a positive way,” Mr. Sullivan explains. “The students at Great Lakes Learning Academy are self-motivated and have a desire to learn.”

The Online Experience at Great Lakes Learning Academy

According to Mr. Sullivan, the school has an extremely welcoming approach to new students and families. Each student is assigned a homeroom teacher in addition to a school counselor. Both are in contact with the student and caretaker regularly.

“The individualized attention each student receives at Great Lakes Learning Academy really separates the experience from a typical brick-and-mortar setting,” he reports. “I really believe students [here] receive more individualized attention [than at traditional public schools].”

How This School Helps Prepare Students for a Bright Future

Mr. Sullivan believes that Great Lakes Learning Academy helps prepare students to be successful in three important ways: through the high-quality of its curriculum; the combination of online classroom and independent learning; and the flexibility of the students’ school day.

“Students at Great Lakes Learning Academy have access to an expansive academic curriculum and can tailor their learning to their individual needs.”
