Christeanna
Graduate
When Christie H. began attending Great Lakes Learning Academy in eleventh grade, she struggled and had a tough time academically. Thanks to the dedication and help of some of her teachers, she turned things around in a big way and finished classes a month early.
Teachers Who Stayed in Touch
“When I first started going to this school, I was failing all my classes and didn’t comprehend anything very well,” says Christie. “I had done a lot of moving around and it really stressed me out. We had lots of issues at the homes we were living in, and I just couldn’t get schoolwork done.
“My brother started going to this school and liked it, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I failed so many classes, but the teachers were very helpful and kept in contact with me. All the teachers here do a great job. Ms. Jenn, Ms. Copeland and Mr. Wells were especially helpful.
“We talked pretty much all the time, and they helped me a lot. I was really surprised by how often we could talk. I didn’t expect that at all. I had gone to another online school and the teachers there never got in touch with us.”
An Online Platform That’s Easy to Use
What also surprised Christie about Great Lakes Learning Academy was “how easy it is to navigate the online platform. At the other online school I attended, it was confusing trying to figure out where everything was.”
When asked about her favorite subjects, Christie immediately said, “Science! I love science! I like all science! Math was hard.”
What are her plans for the future? Says Christie, “I’m a tattoo apprentice now … it takes lots of practice … and I love learning it. I like all kinds of tattoos and plan to become a tattoo artist.”
“This school was a lot easier for me … the pace was a lot better. I could take my time. … Stuff was explained better here than at my other online school.”
