Mrs. Osborn teaches special education in grades 6–12 and has been with Coastal Connections Academy since 2018. Mrs. Osborn shares more below.
Why I Became an Educator
I became a teacher to help students with learning challenges be successful at school. During my career in education, I have supported students as a reading specialist, special education teacher, and special education administrator.
I love being a teacher at Coastal Connections Academy and assisting our students with disabilities! I can spend more time with my students one-on-one and within a small group than when I taught in brick-and-mortar schools.
The Online School Experience at Coastal Connections Academy
Engagement is critical for students to be successful in online school. I love learning new technology and using it to grab my students’ attention in LiveLesson® sessions. Coastal Connections Academy allows students to spend the needed amount of time on lessons with the flexibility of choosing when they can learn best. Their courses are always available for learning and review.
Coastal Connections Academy is a great fit for many students with a collaboration between student, Learning Coach, and our teachers. Our school has a diverse, knowledgeable staff that is here to support their students!

When I am not working or completing coursework for my Ed.D. program, I enjoy spending time at the beach with my husband and four children. My youngest son has been in virtual school for six years and our middle child graduated from virtual school in 2021. I am an avid reader and can get lost in a good book. My family and I also enjoy movies and live music.
