Phonics


1. Point to action on your student's screen. Say: You can read this word because you know how to read words with more than one syllable. Read each syllable from left to right and then blend them to read the whole word. Divide ac/tion to demonstrate. Remember that -tionstands for /shən/.  What is the word? action

2. Repeat with picture, making sure that your student recognizes that the letters -ture can stand for /cher/.

3. Have your student blend the words on her screen. Then have her choose a word and use it in a sentence to demonstrate understanding. Provide help with meaning as needed.

4. Help your student play Connect-a-Majig. Directions can be found in the online help, which is accessible by clicking on the question mark icon at the bottom of your screen. Then search for "Connect-a-Majig."

Spelling

1. Practice the spelling words with your student by having her write a sentence using each spelling word. Have her write each sentence on a piece of paper within the outline of a cow. When she is done, display the "herd" on the wall.

3. Say: Now do page 115 in your Phonics and Spelling Practice Book.
