Student Spotlight: Grace Davis
Grace Davis has been a student at Colorado Connections Academy since the 8th grade and she has found it works well for her schedule and activities. Grace will tell you that one of the biggest parts of her life is that she is a cancer survivor. Grace was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was 5 and went through 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy. She said it has shaped her into who she is today and has made her stronger. She struggled with PTSD and anxiety in her local school, so being in online school has been incredibly helpful for her.

Grace, now a senior, hopes to be a veterinarian someday. She volunteers at Elite Equine Rescue, where they give retired racing horses a second chance. When she was younger it was her first horse, Cloudy, that helped her through her experience and gave her renewed confidence. Grace created a documentary called Running to Rehab, which won second place in the "A Voice for Animals" contest last year. Grace was also accepted to UCCS (University of Colorado Colorado Springs) where she plans to study biology.
She currently serves as the President of the National Honor Society and has been named Valedictorian for the Class of 2023. Her time at Connections Academy has also allowed her to pursue dance and volunteer at the zoo over the years.

On Thursday, February 9th, Grace was a speaker at this year's 20th Annual Day at the Capitol hosted by the Colorado Coalition of Cyberschool Families. This event brings together cyberschool advocates from across the state. The day began at the History Colorado Center and was followed by a rally at the Colorado State Capitol. Grace will be among other students, parents, educators, and legislators getting the word out about the importance of school choice and online learning.
