A college degree gets students ready for a successful future. And, at California Connections Academy, we get students ready for college. We offer a range of Honors and Advanced Placement® courses along with plenty of online clubs for students. And we help students build the personal responsibility and love of learning they’ll need to get into—and excel at—whatever college they choose.

Students interested in college prep enjoy plenty of support along the way. Their teachers embrace their goals, and counselors guide them through the college selection and application process. Plus, our online learning environment is similar to what many colleges use, meaning our students are ready to hit the (digital) ground running.

At California Connections Academy, our Career and Technical Education courses give students the opportunity to build their skill sets while they expand their minds. Through courses in finance, marketing, psychology, criminal justice and more, students can explore their interests and prepare for future careers—all while keeping up with the rest of their studies.

COLLEGE CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES

Earning Transferrable College Credits with Pearson Accelerated Pathways

Eligible eleventh and twelfth grade students can complete college-level coursework—and earn transferable college credit—with flexible, dual-enrollment courses from Pearson Accelerated Pathways.
  • 18 courses to choose from, including everything from English and statistics to criminal justice 
  • online, self-paced courses, with the ability to complete lessons and assessments on your student’s own schedule
  • free, individualized college counseling to help determine which courses best fit your student’s interests and future plans

To participate, students must meet minimum GPA requirements and receive preapproval from their school counselor. Eligible California Connections Academy students are invited to take one Pearson Accelerated Pathways course per academic year free of charge to be completed in the enrolled term. AVID PROGRAM

Preparing California High School Students for College

California Connections Academy offers AVID, an elective class that meets three times a week to help the academic high school student prepare for college. AVID provides the academic, social, and emotional support that will help students succeed in the school's most rigorous courses with:

  • Extra tutor support
  • Curriculum to develop Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading (WICOR)
  • Guidance to practice effective note taking and study skills
  • Presentations to explore different colleges and careers
  • Field Trips to experience college environment


*Career and technology courses may not be available in all schools.

**Students are selected to take part in this elective via an application and interview process.
