Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Electronic Course Program (eCP)?

The Texas eCP is administered by the Texas Education Agency and was established by Senate Bill 1108 passed by the 78th Legislature. It calls for the Commissioner of Education to “…establish a program to examine state policies, requirements, or restrictions impacting school districts that offer students enrolled in the district an electronic educational program or course..." School districts have been given the opportunity to provide online learning options to students in grades 3–10 who are not required to be physically present on campus during instruction. Houston ISD received approval for the eCP program to serve students in grades 3–8 beginning December 19, 2008.
