10th Anniversary: A Decade of Difference

Connections Academy 10th Anniversary Seal

Connections Academy is celebrating 10 years of outstanding achievement. And counting...

In 2011, Connections Academy will celebrate 10 years of helping students achieve their best. Throughout the year, we will have many activities to honor our accomplishments and bring together members of the Connections Academy family—our students, parents, and employees. Be a part of the year-long celebration.

Accomplishments

  • Connections Academy has served over 100,000 students and has delivered more than 1,000,000 courses.
  • Connections Academy schools have sought and received accreditation from every regional accreditation
organization in states where we have schools: North Central Association Commission on Accreditation
and School Improvement (NCA CASI); Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges (WASC); Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School
Improvement (SACS CASI); Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC); Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools (MSA); and AdvancED.
  • Many Connections Academy schools were approved for National Honor Society membership—an honor not
available to any virtual schools prior to 2009.
  • Connections Academy has earned approval from the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the
University of California for many of its high school courses.
  • The United States Distance Learning Association honored President Barbara Dreyer, and Commonwealth
Connections Academy teacher Janae Cardel, for their leadership and excellence in online learning.
  • The Colorado State Department of Education twice awarded Online Teacher of the Year to Colorado
Connections Academy teachers—Chaille Cummings Hymes and Peggy Barnholt.
  • Ohio Connections Academy was the state’s only virtual school to earn a rating of “Excellent.” The school’s
superintendent, Ray Lambert, was chosen by the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools as School Leader
    of the Year.
