Allison received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the College of Charleston. She then went on to earn her Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina.
Allison’s service in Public Education began in Sumter School District Two where she served sixteen years. In her teaching career, Allison has taught fourth and fifth grades, served as a Curriculum Coordinator for four years and as a Middle School Assistant Principal for three years. Currently, she is the principal of South Carolina Connections Academy, a Virtual Charter School in the South Carolina Public Charter School District.
As an educator, Allison was awarded a $2,000 EIA Teacher Grant in 1996. That same year, she was named the Pocalla Springs Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Reading Teacher of the Year and was a part of the SSD 2 Teacher Forum. In addition, Allison has presented at the International Reading Association’s Annual Conference where she educated SC teachers on how to plan, implement and manage effective Parent Education Programs in their elementary schools. Allison has also presented at several State Department of Education Conferences on multiple topics.
Allison is a member, and past President, of Delta Kappa Gamma International. She is also a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. Additionally, she has been an active member of the Sumter Area Reading Association, SC International Reading Association and multiple other state and local teacher associations.
