Specialty Academies for Exceptional Talents
Students who have demonstrated talent in the performing arts, competitive sports, or math and science have the opportunity to flourish at one of our three specialty academies devoted to fostering growth in these disciplines.
Open to all full-time Connections Education middle and high school students, the academies offer enriching experiences, networking opportunities, and specialty-focused coursework. Academy membership is an ideal way for students to cultivate their burgeoning talents and enrich their academic lives.
Is your full-time middle or high school student interested in applying to the specialty academies?
Connections Education proudly offers introduces three individual academies: the Sports Academy, the Visual and Performing Arts Academy, and the Science and Technology Academy. These programs, starting their second year in the fall of 2013, are for enrolled middle and high school students who are already involved in competitive sports, the visual and performing arts, or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
The application for all three academies will be available starting August 12 – September 13 through your student’s blue "i" icon when their Caretaker is logged on. This will be the first opportunity during the school year for students to apply to the Specialty Academies. Enrollment will open again from December 9 – January 10..

Visual and Performing Arts Academy
Students who shine in theater, music, dance, or the visual arts can enroll in our new Performing Arts Academy. In addition to their regular coursework, students are strongly encouraged to take classes in their particular arts discipline for which they receive credit on their transcripts. Partnerships with arts organizations and networking with other academy performers are just some of the engaging activities that enrich our young performers and help them advance.
Sports Academy
For student-athletes, Connections Academy schools have always been an incomparable choice. Flexible class schedules allow for intensive training, and easy portability lets students learn anywhere competition takes them. The new Sports Academy connects student-athletes—including promising future Olympians—from across the nation so they can network at local and national competitions as well as in LiveLesson®session, providing opportunities to earn varsity letters in the Sports Academy.
Science and Technology Academy
Students with advanced abilities in science and technology gain exposure to today’s cutting-edge innovations through guest experts from fields such as robotics, cyber security, environmental science, and astronomy. They also enjoy opportunities to interact with other like-minded students. A variety of competitions and learning activities keep students challenged and inspired.
