Baltimore, April 16, 2010—This summer, students don’t have to choose between hitting the beach or hitting the books, thanks to an innovative online summer school program from National Connections Academy (www.NationalConnectionsAcademy.com). National Connections Academy (NaCA) is an accredited, virtual private school and a division of Connections Academy, a leading provider of high-quality, K–12 virtual schools serving over 20,000 students nationwide. The online summer school—ideal for students seeking enrichment or credit recovery courses—offers students and families unprecedented freedom to choose when and where lessons are completed. Students can take their courses at their convenience, anywhere there’s an Internet connection, 24/7.

Online summer school sessions start in June and will offer a record 29 high-school level courses for both credit recovery and enrichment. National Connections Academy increased its summer school course offerings by 60 percent this year in response to growing student and parent demand for its courses, which range from Algebra and English to Spanish and Digital Photography. Last year, nearly 1,000 online summer school courses were taken at National Connections Academy-- helping students across the country balance academic goals with summer plans.

There are also nine levels (Kindergarten through eighth grade) of an innovative course called Summer Smarts, designed to keep students’ minds engaged and active during the summer months and mitigating the impact of summer learning loss.

The online summer school is open to students across the country; registration is going on now. More information can be found online at www.NationalConnectionsAcademy.com. Interested students and parents should contact NaCA by phone at 877-804-NACA (877-804-6222) or by email at NaCAadvisor@connectionseducation.com

“National Connections Academy’s online summer school is a great way for students to make up credits or to get a leg up with enrichment courses,” observed Dr. Steven Guttentag, Head of School for National Connections Academy. “Students can take their courses when and where they want, so they don’t have to choose between high-quality academics and other summer activities like getting a job, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.”

The private school and its online summer school program offer dedicated teachers, personalized feedback and guidance, detailed daily lessons plans, and a flexible learning schedule. In a recent Parent Survey, 95% of parents with students enrolled in Connections Academy said that the curriculum was high quality and 97% would recommend the school to other families.

Each online summer school course delivers a full semester’s worth of instruction over an intensive four-week session. In 2010, two online summer school sessions are planned: Session I will run from June 1–28 (with a registration deadline of May 26) and Session II will run from July 6 to August 2 (with a registration deadline of June 30). Information about tuition for the private school’s online summer school is available at www.NationalConnectionsAcademy.com.

National Connections Academy’s online summer school offers “K–8 Summer Smarts” courses as well as 29 high school credit recovery and enrichment courses. 16 credit recovery courses are designed for students who have already taken the course, were not granted credit for the course, and need to make up the course to meet high school graduation requirements. 13 Enrichment courses—including new computer technology courses—are designed for students who wish to accelerate their academic career or simply continue their studies over the summer.

Interested high school students are encouraged to discuss credit transfer policies with their schools and inform them about National Connections Academy’s online summer school courses prior to registering.

National Connections Academy’s online private school places emphasis on college and career preparation and works with each student to develop an individualized learning plan to meet student goals. Offering both full-time and part-time options, National Connections Academy serves a variety of students: those seeking a more rigorous program with the opportunity for accelerated learning, or those requiring specific and extra assistance. National Connections Academy is a great fit for competitive athletes, professional actors, and others who need a more flexible education option. Previously homeschooled students also thrive in the online private school.
