Online Middle School Curriculum
The middle school years at Connections Academy virtual schools are an exciting time as students become increasingly independent with their studies and begin to take more responsibility for their learning. Connections Academy helps students see their own potential and the many possibilities that are open to them.
Lesson directions are now written directly to students as Learning Coaches move into a more supportive role. Middle school students are encouraged to take the lead in their studies and are held to high standards as they move toward their high school years.
Support for Middle School Students
Virtual middle school students start to work directly with highly qualified subject area teachers for their courses, but they remain under the guidance of a counselor or an advisory teacher for overall support. They actively participate in teacher-led virtual instruction and review sessions via our LiveLesson® tool, providing not only more specific instructional assistance, but also the opportunity to communicate and work with their peers.
Course Electives and Activities
Students vary their education with exposure to many different subjects and activities in the middle school curriculum. Students in online middle school programs choose from a wide range of elective courses and become involved in the variety of virtual clubs and activities. They can join clubs that enrich them in whole new ways, like competing in Mathematical Olympiads or writing for the school newspaper.
Additionally, gifted students have access to high school level courses and begin to earn high school credit, subject to their counselor’s approval. Please check with your Connections Academy school [Link to: check availability page] to see if this option is available.
