Since starting Central California Connections Academy, Jennifer’s twins’ love for school is back, their grades are high, and their confidence is stronger than ever.
As a parent of two children who enjoy the Connections Academy experience, I have only wonderful things to say! I truly appreciate the curriculum, social events, field trips, and teachers! My children also love that they can work at their own pace, and they enjoy the various activities brought to them by Connections Academy!
I won’t lie; this is not a fit for everyone. It is time-consuming, especially at first. You need to really be a dedicated parent and have kids willing to learn from you. The learning curve, for the whole family, is big and at first a bit stressful, as it is a new experience for everyone. If you stay connected to your teacher, communicate openly, and are willing to find ways that work for your family—a style of your own—it can become a joyful experience.
My kids and I now have a routine that fits our own way. They work harder and have more classes than at a traditional school, including the arts, and they are thriving and actually enjoying learning. Their love for school is back and their grades are high. Their confidence is stronger than ever. They love being able to sit in a coffee shop with the laptop and do school, or study at home in their PJs! They learn on their schedule, one that fits with their active times. School does NOT have to be from 8 am to 3pm; it can be from 8 pm to 3 am, or any time that works best for them and the family. It can be anywhere you have Internet access—at a hotel room in the morning before going into Disneyland, or from Grandma’s house. This freedom is what my family loves about Connections Academy. Yes, you are their Learning Coach and they are still students, but now the whole world is open to being a classroom. For my family, this allows creativity to flow and brings out my twins’ curiosity. It is because of this that they now love getting an education, rather than its being a punishment of sorts.
This is not traditional school, nor is it traditional homeschooling. It is the best of both, and it has been a real blessing. To anyone tired of NCLB, budget cuts hurting traditional schools, bullying, and drugs, or any other reason you may be considering a home classroom, I would strongly urge you to look into Connections Academy.
