Christy Lamb has worked in education for nearly twelve years. Ten of those years were spent in both a brick-and-mortar and a virtual classroom, teaching English/language arts for grades 6 through 12. In 2010, Christy earned her Master Teacher designation in the state of Ohio. Also in 2010, she earned her master’s degree in educational administration as well as her principal license, and she began working as the assistant principal of the online high school at Ohio Connections Academy. Christy has presented at several state conferences, and she advocates for school choice in the state of Ohio.

Why She Cares About Virtual School

Virtual schooling is an excellent educational option for students. It is a viable option that we know can work, as evidenced by Ohio Connections Academy’s ‘Excellent’ report card ranking in the 2009–10 school year. Providing this type of school choice is very important to me. Teaching in this environment challenged me to stretch my abilities and find new ways to reach students in order to move them forward academically. I know my students much better in this environment because, when I’m communicating with them, they are my sole focus during that interaction. Also, this model is one where parents are truly partners in education.
