Humam is a high school student at Arkansas Connections Academy. He loves the support he receives from teachers and staff, his flexible schedule, and the opportunity to learn at his own pace. Humam shares his story below:
About Me
My family moved to the U.S. shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began, at which time I was still a middle school student. We were left with two options: studying online with brick-and-mortar schools, or studying online with pioneers in the virtual learning world. My favorite subjects/activities are swimming, math, and science. Don’t get me wrong, I love all my subjects, but I just hold these closest to my heart.
Why I Chose Arkansas Connections Academy
The choice seemed easy; Arkansas Connections Academy was so much better in almost every way! You get to learn at your own pace, you don’t have to suffer from the negative influences found at brick-and-mortar schools, and have amazing teachers to support you along the way!
My Online High School Experience
The most attractive aspect of being a student at Arkansas Connections Academy is the flexible schedule that it offers. Connections Academy does more than just let you study at your [own pace]. If used correctly, the flexible schedule that Arkansas Connections Academy offers allows you to shape your schedule around the things that are most important to you. This empowers you to make the most out of your time by spending time with family, volunteering, or even taking part in extracurricular activities that interest you.
I am fortunate enough to have amazing teachers here at Arkansas Connections Academy; they are all super helpful, incredibly patient, friendly, and empathetic. They dedicate their time in an effort to help their students succeed while also maintaining high levels of professionalism and formality.
What I love most about Connections Academy is that you are in control of your education and that you are given all the support you need along the way!

Future Plans
I am passionate about many different fields. I have always had an interest in computers and wanted to learn more about them, but have considered myself no more than a tech-enthusiast for the past couple of years. Recently, however, I dived into the world of cybersecurity and have even begun experimenting with Python to automate my daily tasks. I have also participated in CyberStart America (2021–2022) and was announced a finalist! In addition to this, I have also been able to pursue my passion for swimming thanks to the flexible schedule that Connections Academy offers, and was able to participate in the 4A-1A, 2021–2022 State Championship and help my team achieve victory!
