Natasha Harris became an educator in 2013. She began working at our school full-time in 2023 and is a school counselor for students in middle school and high school. According to Ms. Harris, the most rewarding part of her job is “seeing students succeed in their own way and at their own pace.”
Why She Became an Educator
“I’ve always loved working with kids, starting with babysitting at the age of 12, then working in daycares and preschools,” says Ms. Harris. “My college and graduate school studies helped prepare me to be a school counselor.
“Since 2013, I’ve been supporting students emotionally and academically, helping them navigate challenges and plan for their future. … It’s amazing to watch them grow, gain confidence, and work through challenges, knowing I’m helping them along the way, even from a distance.”
The Online School Experience at Wyoming Connections Academy
“I try to make the lessons interactive and relatable to real-life situations," says Ms. Harris. “I encourage students to participate in group discussions and activities, even in an online setting, to help them feel connected.
“I enjoy hosting Character Strong Lessons where students can reflect on their goals and values. It helps them take ownership of their learning and gives us a chance to talk through any challenges or successes they’re having. It’s a great way to build connections and show students their goals matter.”
Message for Families Considering Online School
According to Ms. Harris, “Wyoming Connections Academy provides a unique and flexible environment that truly supports the needs of each student, whether they need more one-on-one attention or thrive in a self-paced setting.
“This school helps students develop time management, self-discipline, and critical thinking skills, all of which are so important for their future. The support system we have here truly ensures that students have what they need to reach their goals.”
Hobbies and Interests
Ms. Harris says, “I love to travel and experience new things. Whether it is down the street, exploring my own neighborhood, or across the globe in a whole new country. Traveling has been a big part of my life that helps me stay curious and open-minded. I also enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and watching movies!”
“I love being an online school counselor because I can connect with students in a way that really fits their needs.”
