Meradith Wooten joined Tennessee Connections Academy in 2019 as an intermediate school teacher and currently teaches fourth grade. She shares her story below:
Why I Became a Teacher
I love being able to interact and build unique bonds with my students and their families. Growing up, I had a handful of teachers I adored and admired. They weren’t only educators, they were my cheerleaders, supporters, and friends.
I have a love for learning because of their influence in the classroom. I knew that I wanted to be all those same things for future generations. I want to show my students just how much school and an education means.
The Online School Experience
With Tennessee Connections Academy, there are many types of learning that take place in one day. Students gain incredible computer skills and are being prepared to be the next leaders, simply because the number of resources available to them is endless.
This school has changed my view of teaching. The students I work with every day are some of the most amazing students. They’re smart, sweet, and overwhelmingly respectful. Seeing their faces each morning makes me love my job.

Online schooling is just like being in a brick-and-mortar school, but with one difference: we have more fun! And since we’re all online, there isn’t any instructional time lost between subjects, activities, or lessons. It’s a different flow of learning that’s easy and lets each student be unique.
