Emily Force-Tinsley is a school counselor at Tennessee Connections Academy who joined the school in 2019. She holds a
bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education school counseling. Ms. Force-Tinsley chose to become
an educator because she wanted to work with children on their mental health and social/emotional skills and help them in
the process of becoming strong and resilient adults.
At Tennessee Connections Academy, she enjoys the unique opportunity to connect with students who, for many reasons, did
not find brick-and-mortar schools to be a good fit. These students often need their school counselor the most.
Ms. Force-Tinsley says, “In many cases, being in the comfort of their own home allows students to express themselves
more freely and make more progress toward goals of self-regulation and emotional education. Tennessee Connections
Academy ensures that kids are getting a holistic education, including physical, educational, and mental fitness. We
treat students as a whole being to encourage growth.

My favorite part of the job is either my elementary guidance lessons with all grades or the Friday recess I host with
third through fifth graders, where we learn about character education. The kids chat with their friends freely and
listen to music, and then we dance to a KIDZ BOP! Seeing the kids connect in these gatherings is wonderful!”
