Our goal is to work with Oklahoma families to create happy, engaged students who graduate from online school and find success—wherever that may be.

While virtual school and homeschool programs are similar in that both allow students to learn from home, at online schools students receive a very different online learning experience than homeschool students.

Parents choosing the path of traditional homeschooling in Oklahoma have complete responsibility for developing or purchasing the curriculum and serving as the teacher—teaching lessons and grading student work. With an online public school, students are taught a state-approved curriculum by Oklahoma-certified teachers.

There are a few online schools elementary students in the state can attend. At an online public school, Oklahoma students learn from home with parent involvement. Students connect to their curriculum and lessons through an online learning portal. With younger students, we find they learn best if a parent, or other trusted adult, serves as the student’s Learning Coach to help guide them through their coursework and stay on task.

There are a few online middle schools students can attend in the state. At online schools in Oklahoma, students have the flexibility to adjust their schedule to meet their needs and attend regularly scheduled live sessions with teachers and classmates in a virtual classroom. At online public school, teachers are specially trained to make online learning engaging and effective.

Oklahoma virtual high school students can attend Oklahoma Connections Academy. At this state-approved online public school, high school students can earn an official Oklahoma high school diploma. Students have the ability to take honors and Advanced Placement®* courses. Plus, licensed school counselors can advise them about the college application process and financial aid.

To graduate from an online high school, Oklahoma students must successfully earn a minimum of 23 credits and take the state-provided ACT and Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP) test in US history and science.
