“We love the flexibility that Willamette Connections Academy offers our family for things like travel and medical appointments. We are a multilingual, multicultural household. Flexible scheduling allows us to build in Arabic and Italian language lessons. We can have discussions about various school subjects in alternate languages to solidify our son’s linguistic skills. We can work ahead so that we can take time off to travel, or to celebrate holidays that are not on a traditional school calendar.

We can also supplement certain topics that our student is excited about with additional activities to keep things fun. If he is learning about birds, we can head outside for a walk with our binoculars to try and spot some. When he is learning about plant life cycles, we can talk about it as we work in our garden. My child is very interested in math and science. We add to his learning with science experiments and nature observations.

Mrs. Poulsen is always available to answer our questions, and it’s reassuring to know that she is just a quick phone call or email away. We especially love that she embraces cultural diversity and encourages her students to celebrate what makes them special.”
