Bartlesville, Okla. (May 18, 2024) – Oklahoma Connections Academy, a tuition-free, online public school serving students across Oklahoma in grades K-12, celebrated the graduation of 108 students on Saturday. Students gathered at the Tee-Pee Drive-In Theatre in Creek County to celebrate in person with their peers, school administrators, teachers, and family members.
The graduating Class of 2024 at Oklahoma Connections Academy represents a diverse group of students hailing from various cities and towns across Oklahoma, such as Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Bartlesville, and more. Notably, 47 percent of the graduating class have plans to enroll in two- or four-year colleges or universities, while 12 percent intend to enter the workforce, and 2 percent are embarking on military service.
Among the graduates is 16-year-old Mulan Snyder, this year’s valedictorian, and resident of Calumet. “I truly appreciate what Oklahoma Connections Academy has done for me throughout my more than 10 years of attendance. I have had a rigorous academic schedule but being a part of Oklahoma Connections Academy has allowed me to graduate with both my high school diploma and associate degree at age 16,” said Snyder. “In the fall, I will be attending the University of Oklahoma for my bachelor’s degree as an incoming junior. Additionally, with the opportunities of a flexible schedule, I was able to become a page for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, which was a great honor for myself and my family. The teachers at Oklahoma Connections Academy have helped me to become more confident in my learning capabilities, even helping me with strategies that applied to what I was learning in a college classroom.”
"We're thrilled to commemorate the accomplishments of the Class of 2024 and their unwavering commitment to learning. Guiding this graduating class has been an immense privilege, and we'll be enthusiastically rooting for them as they set forth into the next exciting chapter of their lives,” said Melissa Gregory, school leader at Oklahoma Connections Academy.
