Helping Online Students Succeed

With master’s degrees and specialized training in developmental and educational psychology, our online school counselors help students address the personal, social, and academic issues that can affect their success in school and in life.

At OCA, our online school counseling program is built on relationships, so our counselors are readily accessible to students and families—online, in person, and by phone. With the additional support from our national Connections Academy office and its collaborative network of school counselors across the United States, our counselors bring both individual attention and national expertise to our students and families.

OCA counselor Althea Mulichak

Meet Althea Mulichak

Manager of Counseling Services

Althea Mulichak is a school counselor at Ohio Connections Academy (OCA). She has been a school counselor since 2011 and joined the Connections Academy community in 2014. Below she shares what she loves about being a counselor in an online setting.

“Becoming a school counselor had always been a goal of mine since I was in high school. The ability to help students succeed not only academically, but also in the areas of personal/social growth and career planning is one of my favorite parts of this position.

During my time at OCA, I have come across so many students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, skills, and talents. OCA provides me with the opportunity to support students throughout the state of Ohio, and individualize their plans and pathways as they prepare for college, vocational training, military, or the workforce. Our online learning environment prepares students for the future better than most traditional schools by teaching them the organizational skills, time management, and accountability they need to be successful in both the classroom and 21st century world.”
