When was New Mexico Connections Academy (NMCA) fully approved to open?

In an announcement on Thursday, June 6, 2013, the New Mexico Public Education Commission officially approved New Mexico Connections Academy (NMCA) to open. In addition, the New Mexico Governing Council selected Connections Academy of New Mexico, LLC, as its provider for online education.

Who is eligible to attend New Mexico Connections Academy (NMCA)?

Students entering grades 4–12, residing throughout the state of New Mexico are eligible to enroll in New Mexico Connections Academy. See the Enroll section to learn more.

Does Connections Academy provide services and accommodations for students with disabilities?

When a student's IEP team determines virtual learning is an appropriate placement and setting for a student, Connections Academy provides a continuum of virtual special education services that range from consultation, curriculum accommodation and modification, collaboration with learning coaches and general education teachers, to virtual direct instruction. Connections Academy provides students with IEPs with related services, that may include virtual speech language and virtual occupational therapy, as determined by the IEP team. For eligible students with disabilities who do not require special education, Connections Academy develops (as needed) and implements Section 504 plans that detail appropriate accommodations and modifications.
