Michael Munns
Michael Munns is an English teacher at Minnesota Connections Academy. He began his teaching career in 2011. Mr. Munns holds a bachelor of arts in literature from the University of Minnesota and plans to obtain a master of arts in teaching at Bethel University. He shares his story below.
“I became a teacher because I love reading and writing. I also love working with teenagers. At Minnesota Connections Academy, I enjoy working with teachers who are always improving their teaching methods. I feel like I’m with a group of colleagues who are on the cutting edge of education, and it’s a pleasure to be surrounded by other teachers who work tirelessly for the benefit of our students.
I love how well I can get to know students in a virtual school environment. Interestingly, even though I don’t get to see most of them face-to-face throughout the year, the contact I do have with them is much more personal than what I’d experience in a traditional classroom setting.
I would tell a prospective parent who is considering enrolling his or her child at Minnesota Connections Academy that the flexibility at our school is wonderful, but it’s still important that your child has a regular routine. Make sure that he or she does.”
