Alex DeGroot began his teaching career after earning a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul. He joined Minnesota Connections Academy in 2013 and currently teaches 4th grade.
Why I Became a Teacher
I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a teacher. My favorite classes in school were math and social studies, and I loved to be challenged in these courses.
The Online School Experience at Minnesota Connections Academy
I love teaching at Minnesota Connections Academy because I get to build a great relationship with the students and their families through our check-in calls. Minnesota Connections Academy prepares students for a bright and successful future by helping them gain some independence and take ownership of their education. They can see the lessons that need to be completed for the day and plan how they want to tackle them. The online lessons engage the students by giving them the opportunity to interact and chat with each other before and after our LiveLesson. Students enjoy it when they can share on the webcam and microphone.
