Learning Coach
Jenifer knew that something needed to change—for both her oldest son and her middle son. Samuel was being bullied at school “and his self-esteem was suffering.” Daniel was struggling with reading “and needed one-on-one help” that their brick-and-mortar school wasn’t able to offer. Both boys switched to Minnesota Connections Academy.
“We have seen such growth”
The family’s experience at Minnesota Connections Academy has been everything Jenifer had been hoping for. “With our oldest, his self-esteem has improved significantly,” she says. “He’s like his old self again.”
Her middle son has “grown so much in reading and math,” she continues. “His self-confidence and independence…have improved immensely. He is so proud of himself.”
Jenifer has been particularly impressed by the one-on-one support the school provides, support that is tailored to the unique needs of each of her students. “We have really enjoyed all the teachers and educators that have shaped our sons’ education these past two years,” she says. “They have always been there to help.”
“Closer as a family”
Like many parents, Jenifer didn’t quite know what to expect in her new role as Learning Coach. However, it’s become one of her favorite things about being part of the Minnesota Connections Academy community. “Don’t be afraid to reach out to your child’s teachers if you are feeling overwhelmed,” she advises parents who are new to the school. “They are so helpful.”
Jenifer appreciates how much more time she now gets to spend with her sons. “We enjoy doing all the classes together…learning and just talking out each lesson,” she says. It “has made us grow closer as a family.”
