Why I Became a Teacher

In 2010, after working in politics, banking, and IT recruiting in Denver, Colorado, I decided to change careers. I’ve always been drawn to teaching, partly because both my parents taught in schools on Cape Cod, and because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of middle and high school special education students.

This school has the most supportive staff of teachers and administrators I’ve ever experienced as a teacher. Students here learn independent study and organizational skills they may not have learned at a brick-and-mortar school.

The Online School Experience at TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School

The most rewarding part of teaching here is making connections online that I wouldn’t have made in my previous schools as a special education teacher. I enjoy connecting with students and encouraging them to take initiative. I try to encourage them to collaborate with their teachers and develop confidence and independence in their learning.

My Personal Interests

I live in Wrentham, Massachusetts, with my wife and three young kids. I enjoy hiking, cycling, sports like tennis and skiing, plus reading and going to concerts.

“This school allows students a lot of flexibility to pursue their goals and dreams.”
