About our Iowa Online School

Iowa Connections Academy (IACA) is a fully accredited virtual school* that makes earning a tuition-free K–12 education possible for parents and students looking for an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar public schools. Our program makes learning engaging and brings everything your student needs directly into your Iowa home via the internet.

Our Mission

The mission of Iowa Connections Academy is to partner with all stakeholders to succeed in and beyond the learning environment through compassionate collaboration, personalized learning, and purposeful relationships.

Our Vision

Our vision is for the demonstrated growth of every student and staff member--personally, academically, and professionally.

In Partnership with the CAM Community School District

IACA operates in partnership with the CAM Community School District in Anita. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau is our representative in the school district, and Dr. James Brauer is our principal.

The Iowa Connections Academy Online School Experience

At IACA, our goal is to help our students become successful, productive, confident adults. Our program allows students to build upon their strengths and explore their interests in a safe environment while remaining connected to the larger school community.

Here are some of the driving forces behind our unique approach to education:

Free Education, Outstanding Curriculum

At IACA, we offer a program that not only is completely free of charge but also meets and exceeds the state and national standards for education. Our curriculum incorporates the best materials, resources, and texts to keep students engaged in creative new ways.

Exceptional Teachers

Our teachers are the foundation of the IACA experience. Our educators include state-certified , specially trained professionals who are both passionate about and talented in the subjects they teach. Teachers gravitate toward our online school community because they believe in the effectiveness of personalized instruction and truly care about the kids they teach.

Individual Attention

The idea that every student is unique in performance and abilities and thus can benefit most from a nurturing and individualized environment is the foundation of Connections Academy’s Personalized Performance Learning approach. Using this method allows IACA teachers to learn the skills, interests, and learning style of each student, making it possible to help students accelerate or deepen learning in their areas of strength and receive the help and attention they need in the areas where they struggle.

Parent-Supported Learning

Parents of IACA students have the unique opportunity to participate in their child’s education as a Learning Coach, allowing them to see their child’s progress and work together with dedicated teachers to ensure their student remains on track. Not only does parental involvement help students prosper, but also many parents find this hands-on role to be one of the most gratifying aspects of our online school.

Easy-to-Use Technology

Connexus, our user-friendly system, gives online students access to a collaborative and welcoming learning experience directly from home.

Socialization, Community, and Friendships

A common misconception about virtual schooling is that students who participate in these programs lack the necessary socialization opportunities and skills to be successful in life—yet this couldn’t be further from the truth. Students at Iowa Connections Academy have the opportunity to interact regularly in LiveLessonⓇ sessions, where they can share ideas and enjoy learning together. IACA also hosts field trips, activities, and other social gatherings, and our flexible schedule makes participating in extracurricular activities and events outside the classroom easier to arrange.

*Iowa Connections Academy is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accrediting division of Cognia, formerly AdvancED.
