Natalie Yelton

Graduate Student

Natalie Yelton is a graduate of Indiana Connections Academy. She lives in Wolcott, Indiana. Natalie and her older brother joined Indiana Connections Academy in 2010, the very first year Connections Academy came to Indiana. Natalie thrived academically and socially at Indiana Connections Academy and appreciated having additional flexibility for piano practice.

Natalie says, “The best part of Indiana Connections Academy has been touring Indiana and learning about Indiana history as our family travels all over the state on field trips. The virtual school schedule has allowed more time to travel as a family. We have had time during the school year to take the train to the Grand Canyon and, on another occasion, to San Antonio, Texas, to see the Alamo after reading about it in my history textbook!”

Natalie’s mom says, “We wanted to try virtual school for a year just to see what it was all about, but we never went back to the brick-and-mortar school because this model of school was so fun. As the Learning Coach, I can be sure that my children are completely proficient in each standard before they move onto the next. When the students study from home, they can really focus on the content they are learning without outside distractions. Plus, at the local school Natalie had so much homework every night that there was very little time left to practice the piano. Now, since she finishes her schoolwork during the school day, Natalie has time to practice piano in the evenings.

The best part of Indiana Connections Academy has been touring Indiana and learning about Indiana history as our family travels all over the state on field trips. The virtual school schedule has allowed more time to travel as a family.

Natalie enjoys working with all of her teachers at Indiana Connections Academy. With their kind encouragement, Natalie has learned to make phone calls, send emails, and ask questions in LiveLesson® sessions when she encounters unfamiliar content. Natalie’s high grade point average shows that this virtual school model really does enable students to do their best with the guidance of teachers and Learning Coaches!”
