High School Teacher
Ms. De is a high school biology teacher at California Connections Academy. She started teaching in 2009 and joined Connections Academy in 2013. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of California, Irvine.
Why I love teaching
“My heart has always been in teaching. When I was in kindergarten, I was asked about a future career. I remember raising my hand and responding that I wanted to be a teacher!
The benefits of an online school
I love helping students find their own potential and helping them see it for themselves. In this environment, I truly enjoy being able to work individually with students and getting to know them and their families. I still stay touch with middle school families I had when I first started teaching here. I really enjoy getting to know the whole family.
A lot of this happens during LiveLesson® sessions. We utilize discussions, breakout rooms, games like Jeopardy, and more.
California Connections Academy helps my students prepare for the future by becoming more independent. This is due to the fact that they need to reach out to teachers, build rapport, and manage their time. Our school prepares them for a digital future where more courses and content are online.

What I would tell parents
If you are considering attending California Connections Academy, keep in mind that even though the student has teachers, parents need to be involved. It is important to be active in supporting your child’s education in this environment. Parents should be receptive to attending meetings with teachers as needed.
My interests
My husband and I are thrilled to have a toddler son. We love to travel. I’ve traveled to India, Singapore, and St. Lucia. I also love baking and home decorating.”
