Amir Medina

California Connections Academy student Amir

Amir is a high school student at California Connections Academy. He lives in Los Angeles, California. As a Connections Academy student, Amir is thriving because he has multiple ways to learn and to express his creativity. When he grows up, Amir wants to pursue a career in cinematography and be a community leader.

After moving to California, Amir’s family had to make a decision about Amir’s education. With his being a creative child with high aspirations, bricks-and-mortar schools were not providing the flexibility or opportunities for Amir to fulfill his dreams. After reviewing other options, his family decided to enroll Amir in California Connections Academy. His mother says, "We examined other virtual schools and found Connections Academy had what we were looking for, and we are very pleased with the program."

She goes on to say, "Because of the layout of the curriculum at Connections Academy, Amir is having a ball! The lessons allow him to learn essential skills that offer opportunities for him to express himself. They do this in a way that helps evaluate his understanding of the subject matter, while expressing this understanding in diverse ways. Instruction is presented with clear objectives, guided practice, and assessments that allow Amir the opportunity to make the adjustments for success possible. With the appropriate pacing, success is the only outcome. Failure is not an available option. With the help of Connections Academy, Amir’s aspirations to become a cinematographer are attainable. Watch out, Steven Spielberg!"
