Arizona Connections Academy

Enrollment Information

First semester enrollment is open and capacity is limited to 3,500 students.
Enrollment offers are being made to parents of students who have completed the initial enrollment process. We will continue to accept applicants and make enrollment offers until the cap is met. After the cap is met, students will be placed on a priority list based on the date/time of initial enrollment process completion. Students will be released to enroll as space becomes available.
Once the offer of enrollment is accepted, you will then have 14 days from the date of acceptance to complete the second part of the process. You will have 24-hour access to your personalized account in the Enrollment Portal, where you will find updates on the progress of your student’s enrollment.

Get ready to enroll in online school at Arizona Connections Academy, serving grades K–12. Typically, the enrollment process takes just a few weeks to complete. But spots fill up quickly, so make sure you start as soon as you can. Here's how to get started:

Step 1

Check Eligibility

You must meet specific state and program requirements to enroll in and attend Arizona Connections Academy. Student eligibility requirements in Arizona are determined by the Arizona Board for Charter Schools, which is the authorizing body for Arizona Connections Academy. Before enrolling in virtual school, review the following eligibility requirements carefully to determine whether your student(s) is eligible to participate in grades K–12. Once your enrollment is confirmed, please immediately withdraw your student from their previous publicly-funded school. Students cannot be simultaneously enrolled in two public schools.

Note: Students who are currently expelled from their local school or district may not be eligible to enroll.

Age Limitations

Kindergarten: Any student enrolling in kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before September 1 in the school year for which you are enrolling.

First Grade: Any student enrolling in first grade must be six (6) years old on or before September 1 in the school year for which you are applying.

Maximum Age: Any student who turns twenty-one (21) years old on or before September 1 will not be eligible to enroll in Arizona Connections Academy.

Geographical Limitations

You must reside in the state of Arizona full-time during the school year and provide acceptable proof of residency to be eligible for enrollment in Arizona Connections Academy. Students should not be withdrawn from their previous school prior to enrolling in Arizona Connections Academy. Please complete the online school enrollment process, and Arizona Connections Academy will notify the student's previous district of the change in schools.

Step 3

Prepare Documents

Please have the following documents available when you are ready to begin the enrollment process.

Child's Proof of Age

Within 30 days of enrollment, a copy of one of the following must be provided for each child:

Official birth certificate*
U.S. Passport
Green Card (Permanent Resident Card)
Baptismal certificate
Application for a social security number
Original school registration records

*If you are unable to submit a copy of your student's birth certificate, you will need to submit a notarized affidavit along with one of the other documents listed above.

If a student is in the custody of the Department of Child Safety (“DCS”), a letter from the authorized representative of the agency certifying that the student has been legally placed in custody of the agency can be accepted.

To avoid unnecessary delays, provide a copy of one of these official documents along with your enrollment documents. If you do not have either of these documents, please contact the enrollment team at 1-833-591-0251 to discuss acceptable alternatives.

Not Sure Where to Get That?

If you need a copy of your child's birth certificate, you can order it online through the Arizona Department of Health Services. Please visit the Arizona Department of Health Services website for more information.

As a reminder, the age eligibility is as follows:

Proof of Residence

You must provide one acceptable proof of residency to be eligible for enrollment. This document will be submitted during the initial enrollment process. There are many verifiable forms of documentation, which are detailed below:

Valid Arizona Address Confidentiality Program authorization card
Real estate deed or mortgage documents
Property tax bill
Residential lease or rental agreement
Water, electric, gas, cable, or phone bill
Bank or credit card statement
W-2 wage statement
Payroll stub
Certificate of tribal enrollment (506 Form) or other identification issued by a recognized Indian tribe in Arizona
Documentation from a state, tribal or federal government agency (Social Security Administration, Veteran’s Administration, Arizona Department of Economic Security)
Temporary on-base billeting facility (for military families)
Consular identification card issued by a foreign government as a valid form of identification if the foreign government uses biometric verification techniques in issuing the consular identification card
An original affidavit signed and notarized by an Arizona resident who attests that you have established residence in Arizona with that person who signs the affidavit

Child's Proof of Immunizations

Child’s Proof of Immunization

The documents below are requested if available for enrollment in Arizona Connections Academy.

All Arizona Connections Academy students will be requested to provide evidence of their immunizations on one of the following:

State of Arizona Official Immunization Form
Immunization booklet with all doses signed/stamped
Official school record
Health care provider/Health Department printout

These forms must be stamped or signed by a health care provider.

Where Can I Get Immunizations for My Student?

Immunizations can be obtained from doctor’s offices, clinics, or hospitals. Pediatricians and family doctors or their nurses or medical assistants can give your student the shots they need to meet the requirements for school enrollment. In addition, some large chain pharmacies offer immunizations for older children and adults.

What if I Need Assistance Paying for Vaccines?

If you need assistance paying for shots/vaccinations, you may be able to get free or reduced immunizations through this program:

Vaccines for Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. Children who are eligible for VFC vaccines are entitled to receive pediatric vaccines that are recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Immunization Exemptions

The law allows parents/guardians to choose exemptions from immunization requirements based on their personal beliefs, and physicians of children to choose medical exemptions from immunization requirements. Medical Exemptions should be completed by a physician on the Arizona Medical Exemption Form and submitted along with any existing shot history. If choosing a personal exemption, please complete the Arizona Personal Beliefs Exemption Form.

Medical Exemption: According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, "if the immunization would be a health risk to the child because of pre-existing medical conditions, you must sign the form along with your physician’s or nurse practitioner’s signature. Your physician or nurse practitioner must state the reason for the medical exemption. The exemption may be for one or more vaccines and may be either permanent or temporary. If the condition is temporary, the date of its end must be given, at which time the child must receive any necessary vaccine doses".
Personal Beliefs: If immunizations are against your personal beliefs, you must sign the form to exempt your child from the requirements.

Prior Academic Records

Students across Arizona in grades K-12 are eligible to enroll in Arizona Connections Academy. Those who have previously attended public school, private school, or homeschool will be asked to submit academic records for placement.

Report Card

For students applying for grades K–9: Please submit a copy of the report card from the most recent school year.

The following items should be included on the report card:

Unofficial Transcript

For students applying for grades 10–12: Submit an unofficial transcript that includes the complete end-of-year grades from the prior school year(s) and any academic documentation (such as a progress report/interim report, class schedule, or marking period/semester report card) issued for the current school year. Additional documentation may be requested for placement.

Not Sure How to Get Your Child’s Report Card or Transcript?

Contact your student's previous school and request the document, providing them with the information outlined above, OR contact your school's district office with the request.

If after attempting these steps you still cannot obtain your student's report card or transcript, please contact the academic placement services team at 1-833-591-0251 to discuss acceptable alternatives.

Have Your Child(ren) Been Formerly Homeschooled?

If your children are currently homeschooled, please complete one of the two documents below.

Prior Academic History Form
For homeschooled students in grades K–12: Complete the Prior Academic History Form indicating what courses were completed through a homeschool curriculum. This form will be available to you in the Enrollment Portal.

How should I verify that the documents I sent arrived?

After submitting your documents, you can check the status of your documents by visiting the Enrollment Portal. If you are unable to verify the status of your documents or have any questions, please call 1-833-591-0251 and contact the Enrollment Team using the document submission option in our phone system. We will check the system to see if the document was received. Please be prepared to provide us with the following information: student’s name, number of pages sent, the date sent, and if sent by fax, the fax number.

Why is the virtual enrollment process different from a physical school?

How does self-enrollment work if I am 18 years old, or older, or am an emancipated minor?

Students who are 18 or over must meet age eligibility requirements in their state. Students must also submit academic documentation of all courses attempted since entering the 9th grade. Academic documentation will be reviewed by a school counselor to determine the student's eligibility to complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment. Students who cannot complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment are not eligible to enroll.

Both emancipated minors and students 18 years and older are required to complete the Parent/Legal Guardian (Caretaker) Acknowledgement (PLCA) form and to provide all required enrollment documentation before the student can enroll. Emancipated minors must also submit court documentation for their emancipation. Please contact the Enrollment Team at 1-833-591-0251 for more information.
