Why I Became a Teacher

I didn’t have a school counselor at my high school, so when a beloved teacher and mentor suggested I’d be good at counseling, I had no idea what she was talking about. The more research I did, the more I realized that not only would I be good at it, but I would truly love it.

I enrolled in the graduate school counseling program and haven’t regretted it since. I love the connections I make with students and families. Most of all, I love seeing the growth of my students as they figure things out about themselves and find success in their lives.

The Online School Experience at Wyoming Connections Academy

Even though we’re online, we’re so connected as a school community. This school allows students to be themselves and teaches them the skills necessary to be successful in anything they do. Online school isn’t easy; it requires a lot of independence and motivation—things our students have in spades.

Students here are not educated in a vacuum. There are hundreds of other students in our community, and teachers are available to support their learning and answer questions. We have lots of fun Zoom meetings and hangouts to help students meet new friends!

“If parents considering this school have questions about what it’s like, give us a ring! We’re here to help.”

Personal Interests

I live with my husband and cat, and love to garden and spend time outside. I just planted my first real garden and it’s doing well. I’ve also got a lot of pet landscaping projects. I love to read, so much that my house is pretty much overflowing with books. I’ve discovered a newfound love of travel and have been to Scotland, England, Haiti, Canada, and 10 U.S. states. I’m excited to add to that list!
