Georgia State Law requires every student to meet required instructional hours of:

  • Grade K-5: 25 hours per week, based on a 5 day work week
  • Grades 6–12: 28 hours per week, based on a 5 day work week

No. Many lessons will be completed on the computer, but others involve time reading while away from the computer, or completing science experiments in a kitchen or other room.

Georgia Connections Academy cannot enroll any students who are currently under terms of suspension or expulsion from their schools.

Yes. Public schools in Georgia are required by law to administer all state-mandated standardized assessments, and students are required to participate. These assessments include the Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) and End of Course (EOC) Tests, GKIDS, and any additional state-required tests applicable to your student.

Additional assessments may include testing for English Language Learners (ELL) or the Georgia Alternate Assessment (GAA), depending on your student’s individual needs.

All required state assessments must be taken in person. Georgia Connections Academy establishes testing centers across the state, and families are assigned to a testing location based on their physical home address.

While Benchmark Assessments and Common Formative Assessments are not state-mandated tests, students are still required to complete them in-person as assigned in the fall and spring, as these assessments help teachers monitor academic progress and guide instruction throughout the school year.

We serve students throughout the entire state of Georgia, including the Northeast Georgia Mountains Region, Classic South Region, Scenic Southwest Georgia Region and Coastal Georgia Region.
