Sean V.

Sean is a graduate of Georgia Connections Academy (GACA). As a dedicated musician, Sean is grateful that GACA allowed him to pursue his music career while still receiving a top-quality education. His mother shares his story below:

'Sean is a classically trained pianist and studied under the guidance of recording artist Lee Davis for six years. He was a featured performer at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, Georgia for five years in a row and performed at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, the Classic Center in Athens, the Saint Regis, the Four Seasons, Renaissance on Peachtree, Ivy Hall, Plantation South and the International Horse Park. He has also been featured on 'Living Life with Style', WATL Channel 57, WKYT Channel 27.

Sean’s demanding schedule made it difficult to remain in his traditional school setting. Sean attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Athens, but made the decision to attend an online school in order to have a more flexible schedule for pursuing his musical opportunities. Sean enrolled in GACA after he and his parents extensively researched online schools.

Throughout the application and enrollment process, everyone at GACA was extremely helpful in ensuring that Sean was placed in the appropriate classes in order to provide the proper academic challenges for his individual needs. The Gifted and Talented program, in particular, far exceeded the one that was available at his former school.

I loved GACA because my teachers were always available to answer any questions I had. At the end of every day, I felt like I came away with something. The funny thing is that I actually had fun! I looked forward to the next day’s lesson, something new and exciting. I hadn’t felt that way about school in a long time.

— Sean

After enrolling in GACA, Sean became more enthusiastic about learning. He looked forward to all of his classes, especially algebra and science. He was thrilled about the field trips scheduled by GACA, and the many opportunities available for hands-on, real life experiences.

Sean was featured in 'People to Know' by Gwinnett Magazine in 2010, and was the winner of the Kiwanis Talent Showcase, the Children’s Miracle Network Talent Competition, the Theta Lambda Lambda Talent Program, and Athens Got Talent in 2011 and 2012. He has also performed with Christian country male vocalist, Steven Paul McCollum; America’s Got Talent contestant, Xavier Lewis; Vince Ambrosetti, pianist at Mother Teresa’s funeral; and many other artists.

In his free time, Sean also enjoys taking the stage with his award winning rock band, Death of the Peanut King and helping his dad with various projects.'
