Tiffany Fillingham is the lead gifted teacher in the special education department at Florida Connections Academy (FCA). Ms. Fillingham started her teaching career in 2000 and has been working for Connections Academy since 2010. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor of arts in elementary education and a master's of education in educational leadership.

"I come from a family of educators", said Ms. Fillingham. "I always loved school when I was a student. Teaching lets me fulfill my passion for serving as a role model to young people. Teaching at FCA has been a wonderful experience, allowing me to develop positive relationships with students' families and to focus on students' individual needs. At FCA, our teachers are passionate and go above and beyond to form relationships with our students and their families. Virtual education has so many advantages, especially in that it prepares our students for the technology-driven world.

Parents who are considering enrolling their students in FCA should know that the teachers are here to assist them too. Parents should never hesitate to ask for support from their student's teachers. We want our parents to feel comfortable with our program because they also play a vital role in their child's education.

"Teaching [online allows] . . . me to develop positive relationships with students' families and to focus on students' individual needs."
