Before joining Connections Education in 2015, she taught in private schools, public and charter brick-and-mortar schools, and owned her own educational consulting company that focused on helping administrators provide consultative services for students receiving gifted and special education services.

When asked to share her thoughts on the importance of education, Ms. Strickland said, "This advice comes from my dad, 'Do something you love and you will not work a day of your life'. For me, this is huge since my dad technically works seven days a week taking care of cattle on a ranch. But since it is his passion and he loves what he does, then it is a lifestyle and not a job.

"I also like to remember to learn something new every day. Again, thinking of my dad, he is in his 70s and he makes a point to read an article every day; discuss what he reads with someone he knows so he shares his knowledge; and he looks for something new on the ranch every day so he continues to learn in his chosen profession. This supports my belief that you are not ever too old to learn, go to school, or change your career.

"It's important to make learning an individual experience, which is something that FCA does an exceptional job of achieving for our students. It is wonderful to be able to work with students to help them accomplish their individual goals and work around their unique schedules."

"I fundamentally believe that learning should be fun and that knowledge is power. What does this mean for my students? Well, I want to ensure that I support their learning experience, foster creativity and curiosity, and encourage them to find information that supports them.
