Jennifer Strickland has been in the education profession since 1996, when she graduated from the University of Florida with her BA in liberal arts with a focus in literature and communications and a minor in women's studies. With a passion to continue her education and increase her skill set, Ms. Strickland earned her master's degree in educational leadership in 2011 from Saint Leo University.
Before joining Connections Education in 2015, she taught in private schools, public and charter brick-and-mortar schools, and owned her own educational consulting company that focused on helping administrators provide consultative services for students receiving gifted and special education services.
When asked to share her thoughts on the importance of education, Ms. Strickland said, "This advice comes from my dad, 'Do something you love and you will not work a day of your life'. For me, this is huge since my dad technically works seven days a week taking care of cattle on a ranch. But since it is his passion and he loves what he does, then it is a lifestyle and not a job.
"I also like to remember to learn something new every day. Again, thinking of my dad, he is in his 70s and he makes a point to read an article every day; discuss what he reads with someone he knows so he shares his knowledge; and he looks for something new on the ranch every day so he continues to learn in his chosen profession. This supports my belief that you are not ever too old to learn, go to school, or change your career.
