Lead Teacher of Secondary School Education
Patrick Ferrie is the Lead Teacher of Secondary Education at Colorado Connections Academy. He has been teaching Social Studies for 30 years and started teaching at Connections Academy in 2006. "I decided to become a teacher because I had a high school teacher who persuaded me to participate in activities outside my comfort zone.
My favorite part of teaching online school at Connections Academy is that I get to really know my students and also the ability to have a lot of one-on-one teaching.
In our LiveLesson® sessions, I really enjoy when my class gets to “Brainstorm” Historical Documents and Political Cartoons.
I believe the key to being successful at Connections Academy is for their Caretakers to take an active role in their education. It is great to be able to contact and communicate with parents who are always available to participate in their student’s education.
My favorite summer activity is camping and spending time on the lake with friends and family. I also like to play video games on the PlayStation, and my two favorite games are the Fallout series and BioShock."
