BS, Education & Human Sciences, University of Nebraska, Lincoln
Jason Maher is a high school history teacher at Colorado Connections Academy. Mr. Maher started teaching in 2010 and joined Connections Academy in 2017. He shares his story below:
Why I Became a Teacher
“I became a teacher because I wanted to be able to continue my own education and share my love of learning with others. I enjoy teaching at Colorado Connections Academy because it allows me to have more personal and meaningful one-on-one conversations with students.
The Online School Experience at Colorado Connections Academy
Students in an online environment have a lot of personal responsibility, must manage their time, and must be actively engaged in their own learning. The skills they learn in the online environment provide them with valuable life skills that will benefit them in the future.
“The skills [students] learn in the online environment provide them with valuable life skills that will benefit them in the future.”

Message for Prospective Families Choosing Online School
Learning Coach support is crucial to student success. There are many resources available to help learning coaches, and parents should be prepared to take an active role in monitoring and supporting their students.
My Interests
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy trail running, cycling, and skiing. I also have a young daughter and enjoy spending time with her and my wife. We do a lot of hiking and fly fishing together over the summer.”
