Amy Gilbert

Elementary School Teacher

Amy Gilbert is an elementary school teacher at Colorado Connections Academy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and early childhood education from Lake Superior State University and master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. Ms. Gilbert began teaching in 2005. She became a teacher because she loves to see students realize their true capabilities. She shares more below.

“I love working at Colorado Connections Academy because I have the privilege of interacting with teachers, students, parents, and administrators who explore learning with a fresh outlook each day. The greatest benefit of teaching at an online school versus a bricks-and-mortar school is that I can give my undivided attention to a single student. My thoughts are not consumed with lunch lists, bus passes, recess responsibilities, etc. It's all about my students.

— Ms. Gilbert

I tell prospective parents who are considering Connections Academy not to worry about making mistakes because that’s normal. At Connections Academy, we make mistakes together and learn from them together. Learning isn't flawless, but true desire to learn will make it all work in the end.”
