Class of 2026 Graduation—Colorado Connections Academy
Tuition-free online public school honors the achievements and future aspirations of its Class of 2026
Englewood, Colo. - While graduates of Colorado Connections Academy completed their education online through the tuition-free public school serving students statewide in grades K-12, they celebrated a major milestone during a traditional graduation ceremony on May 27, 2026 at Magness Arena at the University of Denver. The ceremony honored the achievements of approximately 364 graduates,
Among Colorado Connections Academy’s Class of 2026 graduates, 27 percent plan to attend two- or four-year colleges or universities, including Arizona State University, Colorado State University, Hawaii Pacific University, New York University and Texas Tech University. Additionally, 24 percent plan to enter the workforce, while others plan to receive vocational training, serve in the military, pursue performing arts pathways, or take a gap year. The graduates were collectively awarded more than $850,000 in scholarships and awards.

Available to middle and high school students, Colorado Connections Academy’s established College and Career Readiness program blends core academic coursework with industry aligned, career-focused pathways, including IT, business, health sciences, and marketing. Students also build durable skills such as leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork, while gaining access to career exploration and industry networking opportunities that help them build confidence, make connections, and clarify their future goals.
Colorado Connections Academy Valedictorian, Matthias Hesser of New Castle, is graduating with nearly 35 college credits completed through the school’s dual enrollment offering with Colorado Mountain College.
“Colorado Connections Academy helped me learn how to manage my schedule and balance school with work, hobbies, and college classes,” said Matthias. “The flexibility allowed me to stay ahead academically while also exploring my passion for aviation and preparing for my future.”
Matthias is pursuing a career in aviation, including hands-on training opportunities through the Glenwood Springs airport and a pathway toward earning his private pilot certification. His interest in flying was sparked through a Young Eagles flight experience, part of a nationwide effort encouraging students to explore careers in aviation. He also credits his online school experience with helping him build real-world skills like time management, financial literacy, and balancing work with academics.
Colorado Connections Academy serves more than 3,000 students in grades K-12 across the state. The school offers a comprehensive virtual school experience that keeps students motivated and engaged with a strong circle of support and a deep sense of belonging.
